¡BOOM!Tu Mundo Pop latino, Octubre 2000, Año IV, Volúmen 9Hernan Vera
Ese gaucho lisérgico un tanto funky en palabras de Andrés Calamaro que fue el poeta Miguel Abuelo, solía decir algo en broma, otras menos: "Todo el mundo sabe bien, que cambiar no implica bien". Siguiendo el concepto, lo original no implica necesariamente calidad. A menudo escuchamos experimentos o grupos de laboratorio que no cautivan, no agradan. La música del chileno Ulises Pineda es, por el contrario, una felicidad donde esta vez lo novedoso trae la mixtura de las raíces del Altiplano con la tecnología exquisite del estudio de grabación. Si nos ajustáramos al manual de etiquetas sería World Music, New Age; pero no es verdad. Encerrarlo ahí es poco, es ver la cima de la montaña. Las flautas, quenas, sikus se entrelazan con las cajas de ritmos y colchones de teclados, dando un clima único, ese confort y música para volar. No hace falta la voz, los instrumentos indígenas bastan, dan imagines en las que pronto nos inmiscuiremos, percibiendo, además, sensaciones físicas. Para comprobarlo suenan "Fiesta en Bahía", Cumbia Clásica", "La Media Zambra" o "Sipan". Si una de las "condiciones" del arte luego de pasar sus páginas, en el caso de un libro, nuestra vista, ya frente a la pintura, es hacernos un poco más bellos, menos estúpidos, entonces escuchar "Araucana (Nite Rites)" sera una experiencia enriquecedora.
